Carrying a 700-year-old tradition directly from the Wu Dang Mountains in China, Wu Dang Tao is the spiritual home of the Taoist tradition in the United States. At Wu Dang Tao, Master Chen has taught Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and other internal martial arts to thousands of students, helping them lead more fulfilling, energetic and powerful lives.

 

The Wu Dang Mountains, located about 500 miles inland from Shanghai, have been a center for Taoist thought and training for the past two thousand years. They are beautiful mountains, full of spiritual and healing power.

 

Master Chen

Master Chen meditating at Monkey ValleyMaster Yun Xiang Tseng, known by his Taoist name "Chen", is a Wu Dang martial arts master.  He comes from a direct line of Wu Dang teachers, a lineage that is 700 years old and completely unbroken.  At a young age he was chosen to study on Wu Dang Mountain with the Wu Dang master Li Cheng Yu.  After ten years of intensive study with Master Li, she sent Master Chen to the United States to share this ancient wisdom and healing art.

Master Chen is known for his profound knowledge of the Wu Dang tradition and his ability to engage his students with depth and humor.  Thousands of students from around the world have been inspired to seek 'the master within' with Master Chen.

 

At Wu Dang Tao, you have the opportunity to study with Master Chen in the martial arts and spiritual practices of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Wu Ji, and Liang Yi.

The Benefits of Tai Chi and Wu Dang Training

Tai Chi is perhaps the best known of all the Wu Dang practices, especially in the West.  Tai Chi is an ancient system of exercise, first developed in the Wu Dang Mountains of China. By loosening the joints and spine to relax points of tension in the body, Tai Chi can help prevent and cure disease and strengthen the digestive, circulatory and skeletal systems. Along with the physical benefits of Tai Chi, it is often described as a ‘moving meditation’ because its slow, turning motions relieve stress, improve concentration, and create a sense of peacefulness.

 

All of the Wu Dang arts (Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Wu Ji, and Liang Yi) bring great benefits to their practitioners, enhancing their health, mental focus, energy and longevity.
